Camp Keshet FAQs

  • What are the camp dates?

    • Camp will run for 6 weeks from June 28- August 6

  •  How do I log into the Parent Dashboard to view completed registration, print statements, add authorized persons to pick-up, pay my balance directly, upload a photo of my camper, and more?

  • Will kids be able to take mask breaks on really hot days?

    • Yes, campers will have an opportunity to take mask breaks throughout their day at camp. This will be done in an outdoor space and campers will remain at least 6 ft apart during that time. We will always make sure our campers are safe!

  • Will staff be vaccinated?

    • Yes, all staff are vaccinated.

  • Will parents be allowed on campus this summer?

    • ECC - Kindergarten parents are allowed on campus for the first week only for transition purposes. Parents must provide a proof of vaccination, or a negative covid test

  • Is there a refund if your family has to quarantine due to pod closure?

    • If a pod group or camp should close due to Covid exposure for 10 day quarantine, we will not be able to provide partial refunds. Camp will provide limited virtual programming to affected groups during that time.  However, should Camp Keshet need to close due to government order or other natural or unforeseen circumstances, the week in session will NOT be refunded. Future weeks of a mandated closure will result in a full refund or account credit, less the non-refundable deposit.

  • What are some examples of ECC Specialists that will be on campus this summer?

    • We are still in the process of hiring specialists for this summer and hope to provide  ECC Campers with  daily specialists and activities which include, Music with Morah Kira, Soccer Stars, Animals, and more!

  • Are ECC parents allowed on campus to help transition younger campers? What if they are vaccinated?

    • At this time, we are following the guidelines set by the LA County Department of  Health which states that no visitors are allowed on site during camp hours. Until those guidelines are adjusted, we will not be able to allow parents to enter classrooms to transition their child. We know that this may be challenging for some of our campers and are exploring a variety of options to help our youngest campers feel comfortable in their new camp space. We will keep all parents informed as we closely follow the updating of camp guidelines. We plan on offering the following:

      • Provide Zoom sessions before the start of camp for the campers to meet and interact with their teachers and see their classroom space.

      • Create a "transition area" in the front lot where parent/child can work on a project together and interact with the Teacher before heading to their class.

  • How large will each pod be?

    • Each ECC/Gesher Pod will be capped at 12 campers. Kindergarten-6th grade Pods will be capped at 14 campers.

  • Will carline drop-off/pick-up be staggered by age?

    • No, we will only have one carline per day.  Camp hours are 9-3pm Monday through Friday.  Parents may begin dropping their campers off beginning at 8:45am and enter pick up carline no earlier than 2:50pm.

  • Can you specify the amount of time campers will spend indoors vs outdoors?

    • Per LADPH guidelines and in consultation with our medical task force, campers will spend no more than 1 ½- 2 hours indoors each day for ECC campers, and no more than 2 hours each day for our older campers. All other time spent will be outdoors (4-4 ½  hours).

  • Is Camp Keshet open to non-members this summer?

    • Camp Keshet registration will be open to all members and non-members, with priority given to members of the Temple Beth Am community. When registering, non-members will be placed on a waiting list and will be notified if/when they are accepted into camp.

  • Who are the counselors? How will they be trained? Will campers get to meet them prior to the start of camp?

    • We are currently in the process of hiring our staff and will share more information when hiring is completed. This year we are dedicating a full two weeks for staff training and camp classroom set ups to ensure that all of our staff are ready for the summer session. Campers will have an opportunity to meet their counselors over 2 zoom sessions prior to the start of camp.

  • What happens if we take a week off camp, will we be able to return, if we start on Week 1 with other campers?

    • Based on both CDC and LADPH regulations, our policy states that anyone who travels is required to quarantine for 10 days prior to their return to campus.

  • What is the ratio for campers to counselors?

    • Current LADPH guidelines state that only two staff members can be assigned to each pod group. Therefore, the ratio for ECC/Gesher pods will be 1:6 (Staff:Camper) and 1:7 for Kindergarten-6th grade pods.

  • Will families be required to quarantine prior to camp?

    • Quarantine before starting Camp is not required. Campers must provide a negative COVID test within 4 days of reporting to campus on the first day of Camp and we ask that our families to quarantine as much as possible from the administration of their test date to the start of camp.
