 os Class Part 2 will resume for 8 Tuesday sessions beginning on Tuesday\, 
 April 29\, 2025 (7:30 pm) and concluding on Tuesday\, June 24\, 2025 (NO C
 LASS ON JUNE 3).\n“But let justice well up like water\, righteousness li
 ke an unfailing stream.” (AMOS 5:24)\n“Justice\, justice shall you pur
 sue\, that you may thrive and occupy the land that your God YHVH is giving
  you.” (Deuteronomy 16:20)\n\nOur eight-session class will study chapter
 s 5-9 of the Book of the prophet Amos. Amos was active in the mid-eighth c
 entury BCE (ca. 750 BCE). He lived in the kingdom of Judah\, in a town cal
 led Tekoa\, some ten miles south of Jerusalem. Although he was from the So
 uthern Kingdom\, his prophecies focused on Israel\, the Northern Kingdom. 
 Unlike many of the other prophets\, his primary charges against Israel dea
 lt with injustice and immorality. Paganism\, for Amos\, was a secondary is
 sue. Amos was a master of rhetorical argument\, and his powerful use of me
 taphors is classical.\n\nStudents should bring a Bible to each class. They
  will receive reading assignments in advance of our Zoom meetings. Interac
 tive discussion will constitute the methodology of our sessions. While Heb
 rew literacy is always helpful in the study of the Bible\, those who will 
 primarily use the English translation will be able to actively participate
  and feel comfortable. The first reading assignment is AMOS CHAPTER 5.\n\n
