 lea\, Deputy Company Commander in the Armored Corps\,\nwas killed on July 
 4\, 2024\, in a Hezbollah rocket attack while serving in reserve duty\nin 
 northern Israel. At the time\, Gal was 32 weeks pregnant with their third 
 child.\nSince Itay’s death\, Gal and her children have been supported by
  the IDF Widows &amp\; Orphans Organization through programs such as Letzi
 dech for pregnant widows\, Night Nurses\, Bonim Atid and Otzma camps. As s
 he rebuilds her life\, Gal continues to raise their children while honorin
 g Itay’s legacy of service\, integrity and quiet courage.\n\nDavid Metzl
 er serves as Director of International Relations at the IDF Widows &amp\; 
 Orphans Organization\, where he leads global fundraising and partnership d
 evelopment in support of the families of Israel’s fallen heroes. David h
 as devoted his career to the nonprofit sector\, working with philanthropic
  partners\, community leaders and institutions around the world. Before jo
 ining IDFWO\, David held leadership positions at Yad Vashem\, Keren Hayeso
 d in Melbourne\, Australia\, and the Jewish Community Center of Stockholm\
 , Sweden. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Sweden\, he made Aliyah in 200
 1 and lives in Jerusalem. He is the proud father of four children\, two of
  whom have served in IDF combat units over the past three years.
